Delivered by the Northumberland Small Business Service (NSBS), the Growth and Resilience Support program provides an enhanced package of support to your business to support your business growth. By signing up, you'll get your own business adviser, someone like Scott from HiThrive, who's committed to getting to know your business inside out. Together, we'll create a strategy aimed at growing your business. The cherry on top? This entire program comes at no cost to you – it's fully funded.
Are you wondering if your business qualifies?
Here are the prerequisites:
Your business must be a micro or small enterprise located within Northumberland.
You need to be looking to safeguard or create new jobs.
To qualify as a micro or small enterprise, your business cannot exceed 50 full-time employees or have an annual turnover surpassing £10m.

As Growth & Resilience technical experts, HiThrive is committed to providing tailored advice to meet your unique needs. This could be one-to-one advice, online or in-person, or even a project they would carry out on your behalf. You can benefit from expertise on topics like improving business performance, conducting business audits, turning around a failing business, growing sales, and strategic planning.
What is the Northumberland Small Business Service?
The Northumberland Small Business Service (NSBS) is a fully-funded service that delivers a range of business support services to ambitious innovators, creative thinkers and small and micro businesses across Northumberland. The service has a particular focus on supporting businesses to unlock the barriers to growth.
The NSBS, which is funded through the UK Shared Prosperity Fund, Rural England Prosperity Fund and North of Tyne Combined Authority, is delivered by Advance Northumberland on behalf of Northumberland County Council, and runs until 31st March 2026.
How do you get started?
Simply visit our growth & resilience page, and schedule an initial call on your preferred date and time. We can discuss the challenges holding you back and walk you through the application process.
What if you need more than twelve hours of support?
Although larger projects can be undertaken, the Growth & Resilience Support program only funds the first twelve hours provided by the expert. The remaining balance must be paid when the work is completed.

In addition, micro and small businesses will have access to a free events programme based on current business challenges, the funding landscape, resilience, and innovation.
